HONORING HISTORIC INFLUENCE OF BLACK WOMEN IN UTAH
Ava Isom, 13, and Dr. Jackie Thompson portray two of the women depicted in a new mural by artist Brooke Smart, honoring prominent Black women of Utah. The mural was unveiled Monday evening at Richmond Park, southeast of downtown Salt Lake City, part of the state’s month of Juneteenth celebrations. The four women depicted in the mural are Jane Elizabeth Manning James, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Austin Taylor, Elnora M. J. Dudley and Mignon Barker Richmond.
