Richard Max Bracken

1955-2022

Salt Lake City, Utah—Richard (Rick) Max Bracken died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in Salt Lake City on June 16, 2022. Rick was born February 13, 1955 in Delta, Utah to Richard and Lois (Fowles) Bracken. He grew up with three brothers and one sister in Hiawatha and Price, UT before spending time in Pagosa Springs, CO and later in Salt Lake. He met his perfect match, Diana, in 2003, and they have spent nearly 20 years building a beautiful life together.

Rick was an artist who loved to create beautiful things. Whether it was writing and singing music, taking and editing photos or designing and building homes, Rick’s creativity and passion for finding the beauty around him were unmatched. He was a kind, gentle father, husband, son, brother, uncle and grandfather - always considered to be effortlessly cool and without a single judgmental bone in his body. When he wasn’t working hard on his latest project, you could find Rick reading a favorite novel, watching a sci-fi thriller or playing (but never quite finishing) one of his many video games. He always knew it was about the journey, not necessarily the destination. Rick was introspective, thoughtful and philosophical, always searching for the meaning behind it all. His family will miss the deep conversations with him over a cup of coffee, but will never forget his beautiful voice and his genuine, contagious laugh.

Rick is survived by his wife, Diana; children, Derek (Katie), Jared (Alex), and Jennifer; step-children, Nicki (Marty) and Rann; granddaughter, Demi; and brothers, Mike, Jeff and Vince. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dana. There will be no formal services, but the family will host a gathering of Rick’s many loved ones to honor his memory.
