The Salt Lake Tribune E-edition

John Kenneth Graham

1953 - 2022

I have a little time so I thought I’d make this personal. Son of Julia and Ken Graham of Manti. Brother to Cynthia, Andrea, Mike, Karl, Leslie, Walter, Nathan, and Wayne. Brother-in-law to JJ, Steve, Kairlee, Cindy, Brian, Jolene, Mylissa. 50 year husband to Kathryn Peterson, Centerfield. Father to Chandra, Kajsa, Richard, Brandon, and Alexis. Father-in-law to Jonathan, Crystal, Chelsea, and Dan. Grandfather to Connor, Brady, Natalie, Carson, Jack, Ethan, and Emily.

I grew up in hardworking rural Manti. We explored, rode bicycles, and showed up at dark. Dad had the summer off so work was always available. Music was a big deal and I played piano and trumpet. I liked Math and Science so Electrical Engineering at the U seemed like a good fit. I worked for Douglas, Kaman, Hughes, and Varian. Had 44 good years.

Personality wise I’m a Myers-Briggs “Thinker”, quiet and analytical. I love theories about the nature of life and reality. Too bad, sitting in the warm sun with a good book doesn’t really work it out. A couple of songs I like are Pink Floyd “Comfortably Numb” and Moody Blues “Isn’t Life Strange?”. Jordan Peterson says that “Life Is Suffering”.

I guess you could say I’ve had it hard in my declining years, but it was gradual and seemed more or less normal. The massive display of love and support that I have received from my wife, kids, family, and neighbors has been truly overwhelming to a shy fellow like me. I deeply love and appreciate you all. We shall meet again in the warm sunshine, I guarantee you. Until then, farewell and take care. I love you all forever.

Services on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Receiving line 10:30 am to 12 noon; family dinner following. 1845 East 7200 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT 8412.
