THE LOOK AHEAD The Cure in Salt Lake Cty, music and camping in Torrey, and art in Tooele

Journalists across our newsroom give you this heads-up on the week to come. Here’s what you can expect June 4-10:

The Cure at The Viv • It’s hard to believe that The Cure — the English rock band that pretty much invented the mopey Goth look and sound — has been around more than 40 years. The band, led as always by Robert Smith, is performing Sunday at Vivint Arena (changing to the Delta Center in July, though some of the signs are up already), at 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Scottish indie-rock band The Twilight Sad (which sounds like the name of a Cure song) is the opening act. Tickets available at vivintarena.com.

Music near Capitol Reef • The Fort Desolation Fest, a three-day event of music in the outdoors, is happening Thursday through Saturday at Cougar Ridge Resort in Torrey — just west of Capitol Reef National Park.

Headliners include rock singer The White Buffalo on Thursday, Americana musician Shakey Graves on Friday, and blues/rock/ soul act Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals on Saturday. On-site camping spots are sold out, but there is off-site camping available.

Art in Tooele • The Tooele Arts Festival is happening Friday through next Sunday, at Tooele City Park on West Vine Street in Tooele. The event, entirely organized by volunteers, will feature visual artists, food vendors, performers and free kids’ crafts. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For information, go to tooeleartsfestival.org.
