Utahns will be at a loss if BlueCross BlueShield and University of Utah Health don’t renew contract CRAIG PAU

I am writing as a concerned insurance broker representing numerous clients who are insured with Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah and rely on the University of Utah Health system for their health care needs. Regence and U. of U. Health are working in good faith on a new contract; however, both parties are running out of time.

Their current contract ends June 30. A number of clients have reached out to my firm with great worry because this contract has not been renewed. I would like to express my strong support for the continuation of this partnership.

Regence has been an invaluable insurance carrier, ensuring nearly 700,000 Utahns access to comprehensive health care coverage in 2022. The U. of U. Health system, with its exceptional network of health care providers and facilities, plays a vital role in delivering high-quality medical care in Utah. The collaborative relationship between these two esteemed institutions is instrumental in meeting the health care needs of many.

The U. of U. Health’s commitment to excellence in patient care is commendable. Their distinguished reputation as a leading health care provider, coupled with their extensive range of specialized services, has consistently delivered exceptional health care outcomes. U. of U. Health providers’ dedication to delivering innovative and compassionate care is praiseworthy.

Regence, as a trusted insurance carrier, has continuously demonstrated its commitment to offering insureds comprehensive coverage with a broad network of health care providers. The accessibility and affordability of health care services facilitated by the U. of U. Health system have been instrumental in ensuring the well-being of countless individuals.

The continuation of the contract between U. of U. Health and Regence is crucial for the stability and continuity of health care services for Utahns. Renewing this contract, will ensure Regence members have continued access to the exceptional health care services provided by U. of U. Health, while also benefiting from the cost-effective coverage offered by Regence. If this contract is not renewed, Regence members will lose access to U. of U. Health’s quality care, while the U. of U. Health system risks losing patients directed to their providers by Regence.

I kindly request that the leaders of these two well-respected entities consider laying aside their differences and prioritizing the interests of their patients and members by renewing their contract. This partnership has been instrumental in meeting the health care needs of Utahns, and if an agreement isn’t reached soon many Utahns will be at a loss.
